Walk with us this Mental Health Month

During this October’s Mental Health Month, members of the Stride team across NSW and Queensland are lacing up their shoes and participating in two major community events in Brisbane and Sydney in an effort to raise awareness and support for people living with mental illness, their families, and carers.

Walk or run with our ‘Striding Legends’, or show your support by donating to a worthy cause!

Wellness Walk

For the past ten years, One Door Mental Health’s Wellness Walk has offered our communities a fantastic opportunity to get out for a walk and increase physical activity while showing support for people living with mental illness, their families, and carers.

Taking place on the 15th of October across Sydney Harbour Bridge, the walk’s significance is bridging the gap between the stigma that often surrounds mental health and moving towards a greater understanding of the illness.

The event provides a great opportunity to gather together and demonstrate fellowship, union, and care for the people we support, while reflecting on the fact that living with a mental illness is a one-step-at-a-time process.

Show your support for this important mental health bridging movement by signing up for the Wellness Walk, or give a donation to the cause – as little as $20 enables Stride to help even more people each year.

Bridge to Brisbane

Further north, on the same day, another team of our Striding Legends will be taking part in a community event on a bridge.

Bridge to Brisbane is an annual fundraising running event that’s been happening since 1997. Attracting people of all ages and abilities, the event raised more than $1 million for over 300 charities last year!

Our Striding Legends are participating in the 10km race, motivated to raise funds for Stride and ultimately help change a person’s life.

If you would like to show your support this Mental Health Month, any donation, big or small is very much appreciated and will be spent on helping people who face mental health challenges be the best version of themselves, including funding activities and resources for the young people who live in Strides mental health residential services.

Check out the Striding Legends donation page.
