About

Southside Community Step Up Step Down (SCSUSD) is a community residential and outreach mental health program. The service provides a home-like environment for up to six adults aged 18 to 65 years of age. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

SCSUSD is for people whose recovery is best suited to short term (up to 14 days) intensive program in a rehabilitative setting. Community outreach is then provided for up to 4 weeks to help sustain progress towards personal recovery goals.

Our service

The team at SCSUSD offer:

  • 24/7 support to maintain a safe and therpeutic environment
  • structured, evidence-based group and activity programs
  • recovery-oriented skill building with a psychosocial focus
  • individualised recovery plans to guide progress and sustain outcomes.

SCSUSD is an alcohol, drug and smoke-free environment. We recognise the importance of coordinated mental health and AOD responses, along with broader services to support people to make positive changes and enable them to meet their recovery needs based on their strengths, values and goals.

What to expect

The SCSUSD team comprises a complementary mix of clinical support from the Canberra Health Service and psychosocial support from Stride and Woden Community Service.

Once a referral is submitted, the team will review it to determine if the program is the most appropriate service for the individual’s needs.

If accepted, the person will be contacted to begin the intake process and schedule a time to enter the program. If the referral is not accepted, the person will be directed to other appropriate services.
