About

Safe Space Blacktown is a warm, welcoming, non-clinical place that people 16+ can freely go to if they are experiencing suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, mental health concerns, isolation or loneliness. It is an effective and accessible alternative to the local hospital department. No appointment is needed and services are free of charge.

Safe Spaces provide a place for people experiencing suicidal thoughts and feelings or emotional distress to access support when they need it, in a calm and caring environment. They are a collaborative and innovative concept that works for the local community they are situated in. The space and support available have been designed in partnership with people who have been through tough times themselves and understand what does and doesn’t work.

How to access support

No referral or appointment needed, a free, walk-in service and an alternative to hospital emergency departments for people experiencing psychological distress.

If you or someone you care about needs support, you can visit us on the above days. Alternatively, if you or someone you know need support outside of these hours or crisis support, call Lifeline on 13-11-14.

What to expect

Our space is designed to help you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. We’ll take the time to listen and understand what’s going on for you, no pressure, no judgment, just a chat that’s all about you.

The staff at Safe Space Blacktown are Peer Support Workers, (people with a lived experience of mental health issues) and non-clinical Mental Health Support Workers.
