About

The Launceston Medicare Mental Health Centre is a free service offering mental health support to adults who are experiencing distress, feeling overwhelmed or are worried about themselves or someone they care about.

No appointment, Medicare card or referral is needed. You do not need to be an Australian citizen or resident. When you arrive at the centre, we will work with you to understand what’s going on and connect you with the right help.

Our Launceston team is made up of experienced mental health professionals who are passionate about supporting people in our local community. From counsellors and peer workers to support coordinators and admin staff, everyone here plays a role in creating a safe, welcoming space for you to feel heard and supported.

We’re real people who care, and we’re here to walk alongside you, whatever you’re going through.

How to access support

Simply walk in or call for support. No appointment, referral or Medicare card is needed.

What to expect

When you come to the Launceston Medicare Mental Health Centre, you’ll be welcomed into a calm and friendly space. There’s no pressure, we’ll take things at your pace.

You’ll have a relaxed chat with one of our team members to get to know you and understand what’s been going on. From there, we’ll work with you to find the kind of support that feels right, whether that’s counselling, peer support, or something else. Everything you share is confidential, and you are welcome to bring a friend, family member, or support person if that makes you feel more comfortable.
