With Family and Carer support, you can learn skills that support you on your caring journey, which focus on self-care and the overall mental health and wellbeing for both the carer and the loved one. Our peers support workers in Nowra will engage with you and provide various types of support. We support carers aged 16 and over.

How to access support

Referrals can be made directly by the carer as a self-referral, or from any other services, GP’s, and support services by emailing familyandcarer@stride.com.au.

We are conveniently co-located with the Stride Family and Carers Centre in Auburn Street, Wollongong. We also provide outreach services in Bellambi and Corrimal, bringing our support closer to you.

Our Mental Health Hub is designed to meet a variety of needs, whether they are immediate, short-term or medium-term. We’re here to help as your needs changes over time. Our team can assist with:

  • de-escalation
  • sensory modulation
  • safety planning
  • brief interventions

We work with local hospitals and other organisations to ensure you receive ongoing support and follow-up care.

How to access support

No initial appointment is necessary to assist you in navigating our services. You can easily refer yourself or have someone refer you through our central intake system via email, phone or in person.

About

Our Transitional Supported Living services offer accommodation and support for those who are living with complex mental health concerns receiving support from the Local Health District Community Mental Health Teams.  Our accommodation in Kurinda is suitable for young people aged 14 to 24.

Strides transitional supported living services provide intense mental health support with a strong focus on independent skill building and preparation for independent living.

Services at LikeMind Orange are delivered via a consortium of partner agencies located onsite. The Western NSW Local Health District are the principal partner with Stride in LikeMind Orange.

About

LikeMind is for you if you are:​

  • currently experiencing or have experienced mental health related issues​
  • currently 25-65 years old*​
  • willing to participate actively in your recovery​.

LikeMind Orange provides services for adults, their families and carers, creating easier access for care in the community.​ Connection to general practitioners, psychologists and social workers is available.

*If you fall outside of this 25 to 65 years old age bracket, please still contact us. We can put you in touch with the best services available to meet your needs in the local area.​

How to access support

If you have a mental health concern, or are worried about how you, a family member or a friend is feeling and you want to talk to someone, LikeMind can help. You can phone us, get a referral from a GP or other healthcare professional, or just come in and see us.

What to expect

We have friendly staff available for you to connect with from Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm, via phone, video or in-person appointments. If you are unsure about which appointment works best for you, please reach out so we can discuss what option would best meet your needs.
