Because You Matter survey – a chance for service users to raise their voice
The Australian Psychosocial Alliance (APA) and Monash University are running an annual consumer survey to better understand the experiences of people who access support for mental health and wellbeing challenges.
This 20-minute online survey seeks to build a clearer picture of what’s shaping people’s lives, and what they want from support services.

What is this survey about?
Researchers from the APA and Monash University Department of Occupational Therapy want to understand:
- What shapes the experiences/well-being of people
- Who accesses our services?
- What is your experience of accessing support?
Social determinants like housing affordability and cost of living deeply affect a person’s wellbeing, but these impacts aren’t always well understood or addressed by policymakers and system designers.
The Because You Matter survey is a chance to change that.
The Because You Matter survey is for people aged 16 and over who have accessed support from an Australian Psychosocial Alliance (APA) provider.
The Australian Psychosocial Alliance is an alliance of leading community mental health organisations, including Mind Australia and One Door Mental Health. Other APA members are Flourish, Neami National, Open Minds, Ruah Community Services, Stride Mental Health, and Wellways Australia.
